Serving as both Director and Director of Photography for XTR Human's "Rave God" allowed me to build an expansive, continent-spanning visual narrative. The core concept relied on a stark juxtaposition between two vastly different worlds: the gritty, dark, hard-hitting club nights of Berlin contrasted with the quintessential Los Angeles experience—complete with fast drives down Malibu roads and slow-motion, Baywatch-style running on the beach. Working with XTR Human is always an incredibly fun process because he doesn't take things too seriously. That collaborative energy gave us the creative freedom to seamlessly weave a healthy dose of humor and camp into the visuals, providing a brilliant counterweight to the track's heavy, driving electronic beats. One of the most significant—and rewarding—challenges of the production was staging a convincing "Berlin" nightclub line scene, which we actually shot right in Los Angeles. This sequence required bringing together a large cast of extras, and it was an absolute pleasure getting to wrangle and capture so many of LA's most iconic dark and alternative community members on camera to bring that authentic, underground club atmosphere to life.
