As the Director of Photography for seasons 8 through 12 of Expedition X, my primary focus was on capturing world-class adventure documentation in demanding and remote locations across the globe. My responsibilities required managing agile, professional camera workflows and executing stunning, atmospheric recreations that anchored the visual narrative and moody aesthetic of our investigations.
Beyond establishing the visual language of the series, I also took on a highly specialized technical role. I designed, fabricated, and programmed custom hardware devices and bespoke software interfaces utilized directly on camera. Utilizing 3D modeling, custom electronics, and advanced UI programming, I engineered functional, tactical diagnostic tools and specialized sensor dashboards. This hands-on fabrication allowed our team to interact with complex, authentic-looking data visualizations in the field, seamlessly blending my technical engineering background with the rigorous cinematic demands of the production.

As the Director of Photography for HGTV's Revealed, my goal was to establish a visual language that distinctly broke away from standard reality television aesthetics. Instead of relying on the traditional renovation show approach of tucking panel lights into corners and blasting rooms with flat illumination, I focused on delivering groundbreaking, highly stylized, and naturally lit visuals.
My cinematography centered on amplifying natural environments to make homes and spaces feel like they existed in an ideal, perfectly lit world. To achieve this cinematic quality, I aggressively pushed large light sources through exterior windows in nearly every scene. This created soft, directional, and motivated lighting that felt authentic to the space while dramatically elevating the production value.
Most importantly, this series required visual storytelling that honored the themes of history, memory, and the pursuit of self-discovery through our ancestors. Revealed follows designer Veronica Valencia and her team as they deeply research homeowners' family histories, using their cultural roots, stories, and heirlooms to inspire custom home renovations. The camera work and lighting had to respect the profound emotional weight of these heritage-centered designs. By crafting an evocative, warm, and intentional atmosphere, I was able to translate the deep cultural roots of each family into a resonant visual experience, allowing the historical and deeply personal elements of every space to truly shine on screen.

2021-2022
Director Of Photography
Serving as the Director of Photography for Ghost Brothers: Lights Out was a major milestone, as it marked my first time leading the camera department on a paranormal series. I fully embraced the opportunity to establish a distinct visual identity, leaning heavily into deep, atmospheric aesthetics and crafting terrifying, cinematic recreations to elevate the tension of the investigations.
Filming throughout 2020 and 2021 aligned perfectly with a major shift in lighting technology, and I leveraged the emergence of high-intensity COB LED fixtures. Specifically, I utilized the new Aputure lights that were just hitting the market at the time, which completely changed the scale of what we could accomplish on the road.
Previously, the logistics of a traveling production heavily limited the size and scope of lighting setups. However, these compact but incredibly powerful LED units allowed us to bring enough firepower to illuminate massive, eerie locations efficiently. This technology enabled me to shape expansive, moody scenes and deliver stylized visuals that felt significantly bigger and more cinematic than anything seen on a traditional traveling show before.

Living For The Dead - Emmy Nominated for Cinematography

Camera
While my official title on Hulu's Living for the Dead was Camera Operator, I was principally tasked with bringing my expertise in atmospheric, spooky lighting to the production. My main objective was to introduce deep dimensionality and a stylized, moody visual language to the series.
This project presented a unique logistical challenge because it featured an ensemble of five cast members. Covering a room full of people dynamically while maintaining a carefully crafted, dark aesthetic required a highly creative approach to blocking and camera movement. To achieve this, we heavily employed the DJI Ronin 4D. This specialized camera system allowed us to introduce smooth, sweeping, jib-like movements into confined locations, elevating the overall production value and keeping the visual narrative fluid and engaging.
Despite the complexities of lighting and covering a large cast on location, our efforts resulted in major industry recognition. I am incredibly proud that our highly dedicated, three-person camera team earned an Emmy Nomination for Cinematography in 2024.
